Ready To Pick Out A Used Car?

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Consumers are constantly met with a slew of choices when they approach the automobile industry from any angle. Online, in dealerships, and even in the paper, new and used automobiles are available in almost every imaginable condition. The first decision that every car buyer must make is whether or not to invest in a new car or in a used car. Once this decision is made, buyers can continue along their journey toward vehicular Zen.

A very popular choice amongst consumers is to purchase a used car that is in great condition. Because the automobile industry is constantly releasing new models, cars that are in wonderful shape are turned in every day by owners who want to level up to the latest and greatest that the industry has to offer. These cars are gems, as they present all the value for only a portion of the cost. So, you have made the decision to forge ahead in your search for a used car. Where do you start? The best place to start is your computer. Before heading out the door and visiting your local car dealerships, you should get an idea of the kinds of vehicles you are interested in looking at .

1. Choose the kind of car you want. This decision should be based heavily on how you will use the vehicle. If you will primarily be traveling with kids, a sedan, sport utility vehicle, or minivan may be the best option, depending on how large your family is and how much gear they tend to bring along. If you are looking for a work vehicle, a compact car or a truck might be suitable, depending on the nature of your profession.

2. Establish a budget. Looking at cars without first knowing the absolute most you can spend can be very dangerous. The last thing you want is to fall in love with a vehicle only to find out that you cannot afford it. After fixing your budget, make a commitment to only look at cars that are realistically priced. If you are shopping with a partner, both of you must pledge to stay focused and only look at cars that fall within your price range.

3. Pick your favorite brands. Car brands can be a hot topic, as many people swear by the reliability of a Honda and others are dedicated to purchasing only those that are American made. If you have preferences go ahead and explore the options that your favorite companies offer. This will help you narrow down the playing field and figure out what models might work for you.

4. Visit a dealership. After utilizing Internet resources to determine what features you must have, and which you can do without, visit your local dealership to see what they have to offer. When looking for a used car it will probably be best to call ahead to see if they have what you want.

5. Make the purchase! After diligently searching for the perfect used car go ahead and make the purchase when you find it. If you follow these steps you will be able to find a used vehicle that meets all of your needs and keeps your payments within the budget you have set.

It only takes minutes to get cheap insurance quotes online but you just may save big all year! If you’re looking for the cheapest auto insurance, life insurance, home insurance or health insurance, start now and let the insurance companies compete for your business.

Freshen Up Your Appreciation for Your Office Assistant

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Where would an executive be without his or her administrative staff? Administrative assistants work tirelessly to organize, plan, and troubleshoot so that the office functions smoothly. They are unsung heroes—a big reason behind the success of a company. It is important that we remember these valuable members of our company.

Over the years, executive have sought to show their appreciation for their support staff. Whether it be during Administrative Assistant week, before Christmas, or any other time of the year, bosses everywhere have seen the need to pay tribute to their staff. As a result, there are a few things that have become the “norm” for gift giving:

1. Flowers.
Flowers are nice, but eventually they die. Flowers are nice from time to time, but they should be the exception rather than the rule.

2. Candy. This probably ranks #2 on the “gift-giving?” list. Like flowers, candy doesn’t last long, and dieters may not appreciate the added temptation.

3. Candle. Nothing says impersonal like a candle. Especially from a male executive to a female assistant, what gets communicated is “I know ladies like candles, so here’s one for you.”

4. Office Supplies. Honestly, office supplies? Sad, but it is true, every year assistants receive as “gifts” items that are essential to their job. One must wonder if those bosses also gave their wives a set of jumper cables for their anniversary.

5. Gift Card. This is perhaps the most useful, but it still lacks personality.
Fortunately, there are newer, fresher ways to show your appreciation to your administrative assistant. Here are a few ideas:

6. Handwritten Letter of Thanks.
Factory produced thank-you cards are nice, but if you just sign your name and lick the envelope you lose a tremendous opportunity to honor your assistant. When you write out by hand a note of thanks you communicate that you care. There is something uniquely personal about handwriting. Tell your assistant what an asset they are, why you enjoy working with them, and how much you respect them. Be willing to be open with them. Your sincere words of affirmation will energize them in their job.

7. Themed Picture Frame.
This is a gift that has lasting power. Get them a picture frame that fits their personality or where they are at in life. If you know they just became a grandparent, get them something themed towards grandparents or grandkids. If they like cats, get them a frame with kittens on it. If they are a sports fanatic, get them a frame with their favorite team. The possibilities are endless. The point is, know your assistant and get them something that is a reflection of who they are.

8. Designer lanyards and id badge holders.
Office settings require company identification to be kept on your person. Typically employees are issued generic id badge holders and lanyards. However, designer id badge holder or themed lanyards can really bring style to an otherwise functional accessory. If your assistant is female, consider a beaded lanyard. This can be a unique way to purchase your assistant jewelry without getting too personal or crossing any boundaries.

9. Thoughtful Gift Card.
Gift cards can be boring, but they don’t have to be. If you know your assistant, you can be intentional about the gift card you give. Has your assistant wanted to take their spouse to that new restaurant? Get them a card to cover the amount of a nice dinner. Does your assistant like to go to sporting events or concerts? Get them a Ticketmaster gift card along with the team or theater’s upcoming schedule. A thoughtful gift card lets them know you care them enough to know about them.

A little present can mean a lot, show your employees how much you apreciate their hard work.

Expressing Your Style As A Nurse

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

Many hospitals and doctors offices have strict dress codes and rules that nurses must follow as they care for the patients they encounter. As a result, it can be difficult for women in nursing to express their style when so much is already decided for them. There are many things that nurses can do to have a little fun with style, even if the nursing dress codes and regulations are so strict.

Endless possibilities exist for hair. Of course, there is the typical idea of pulling it back or leaving it down for those nurses who have long hair. Perhaps even straightening, curling or scrunching for a little daily variety. Pulling it back does not have to be as simple as the plain pony tail. Experiment with braiding, French braiding, or even Dutch braiding. To go in a different direction, bobby pins can wildly expand your hair possibilities. You can section your hair out and twist it into many different shapes. You can also start with a simple ponytail and use bobby pins to section out the hair and twist it from there to create a variety of styles that are your own.

However, hair creativity is not only for nurses who have long hair. There are many things that can be done for short and long hair with the use of headbands, ribbons and pins. Headbands come in many varieties and can be fit to your particular style. Many stores sell an assortment of colors, sizes and textures. Headbands can be used with any type of hair and can also be used when hair is up or down. Each headband creates a unique style for your day. Ribbons can also be an inexpensive alternative to headbands. Ribbon is sold at many crafting stores as well as at some department stores. It also comes in a variety of colors, widths, and textures. You can tie it around your head in the same place that a headband would go and it can be secured with bobby pins. This can create a new look daily with a variety of ribbons, for a much smaller investment. Crafting stores also sell hair barrettes and crafting pins. They have a large disc at the end of the pin to which you can attach an array of items. Consider attaching silk flowers, beads, ribbon, or jewels. All of these things come in many colors, shapes and sizes. These pins can be placed in the hair whether it is long or short to create a unique look.

Another area in which you may consider expressing your style is in the way you display your id badge. A designed badge holder clipped onto your scrubs adds pizzazz to your outfit. Combine it with designed badge reel so you can use your id easily without having to take it off of your scrubs. For even easier freedom to move about, hook your badge holder and badge reel on a lanyard. A beaded lanyard allows you to show even more personality.

Working as a nurse requires making certain sacrifices. With a little creativity, style doesn’t have to be one of them!

Cryptomnesia – A Recollection Best Left Hidden

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Cryptomnesia, which correctly refers to “shrouded recollection” is a condition, more or less, psychologically associated, that refers to a person’s prejudiced recollection. The situation is described by the recurrence of an elapsed memory, which as opposed to being identified by the mind as such, somewhat seems to be something fresh and ingenious. Therefore, an individual incorrectly takes in the thought as his personal.

The word ‘cryptomnesia’ was said to have been first coined by psychology teacher Theodore Flournoy in 1874. The case was about William Stanton Moses, an English spiritualist who claimed he had been in contact with the spirits of two siblings who expired in India. It came out that the death was told in a publication obituary six days sooner than Moses saw an apparition.

Other documented incidents of cryptomnesia involve the enumerated printed references: Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”; Lord Byron’s “Manfred”; Hellen Keller’s “The Ice Emperor”; Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Wealth Island”; George Harrison’s “My Sweet Master”; and Kaavya Viswanathan’s “How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Untamed, and Full of Life”.

It is mentioned that there are two kinds of cryptomnesia: one is generation errors, which covers the knowledge of a forgotten thought; and second is recognition errors, which pertains to an error of origin. The former occurs when a person believes that a revived idea is an innovative one. The thought that has been formed some time in the past may be another person’s or the individual’s own. The latter comes about when a person plainly recalls an idea to be the person’s own when actually, it is not. Here, one is aware that the thought has somehow been formed before but mistakenly concludes the same to be his.

Despite being involuntary, cryptomnesia is attributable to some prevailing circumstances that are in attendance at the time the thought was perceived or gathered by a person. These incidents may have an effect on the individual’s capacity to relate to the principle’s source. As a case in point, one might merely be half paying attention to the presenter and is busy with another thing.

Another reason as observed by studies is that cryptomnesia is prevalent among persons of one and the same sex due to the latter’s parallel outlooks, that contributes to the mix-up as to a principle’s source. Others further mention that the timing when the principle is spoken is also an additional factor, as when the principle is said directly earlier than an individual could produce the same.

The relevance of knowing cryptomnesia in fact concerns plagiarism, which is the unauthorized utilization of another individual’s concepts without admitting the latter’s rights over the same. Plagiarism is really a transgression penalized everywhere around the planet, as it contravenes an individual’s mental property right. It is ethically and publicly not sanctioned. Studying what cryptomnesia is could aid individuals shun away from the execution of plagiarism and its effects, whether or not the same is knowingly and wittingly made.

Tips on Picking Stocking Stuffers

Friday, January 28th, 2011

There are several stocking stuffers that can make a great Christmas holiday for someone. Stocking stuffers are typically items that can actually fit in a stocking so large game consoles need not apply. Before trying to choose the perfect stocking stuffer for the family keep in mind your families likes, dislikes, and have a budget in mind.

Many people feel that it is difficult to choose a stocking stuffer for a teen-but it doesn’t have to be. Consider lip balm, chocolates, colorful flash drives, cell phone/mp3 covers, bookmarkers, perfume, keychain, socks, gloves, book series, and bathroom accessories such as lotions and bath soaps.

Tween boys are generally into sports, video games, and action figures. Stocking stuffers for tween boys include DVD’s, cell phone/mp3 covers, coal (as a joke), art supplies, and creative toys such as puzzles.

For tween boys or girls, traveling games make for great Christmas stocking stuffers. On long family trips and vacations, keeping a traveling game in the car may give parents peace and quiet.

Finding last minute stocking stuffers for the man in your life can be a frightening experience. There are small, inexpensive stocking stuffers under $25 that he can appreciate. Guys tend to like gadgets and sports related items so choose anything from mouse pads, earplugs, disposable razors, winter gloves, flash drive, air tire pressure gauge, cell phone case, bedside nigh light coaster, and money clip.

Sports related stocking stuffers under $25 for men include his favorite team apparel, sports books, beer mug (drinking beer while watching sports is common), deck of cards, and chips. Virtually any item such as a lighter or wallet can be customized with his favorite team logo.

For men, scrambling to find a quality stocking stuffer for a woman is not the best feeling. Before the panic sets in think about stocking stuffers under $25 such as perfume, bathroom accessories such as shampoo, body lotions, soaps, jewelry travel case, picture frames, heart key chain, winter apparel such as knit scarves and hats, make-up kits, and slippers.

Think practically and purchase something she can use on a daily basis. Hopefully, her interests are well known because this will give men a better opportunity to select a inexpensive stocking stuffer she will enjoy.

Tired of all the common (somewhat boring) stocking stuffers out there? Quirky stocking stuffers can be anything from funny reusable ice cubes, scented pens, food pocket organizers, animal salt & pepper shakers, wine bottle platters, spinning executive decision maker, change bank (piggy bank), dashboard and hula dancing girl. If you are looking for a lighter approach to stocking stuffers then these items can be used as gag gifts.

Anniversary Party Themes That Rock

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Whole families come together to celebrate anniversaries. Finding unforgettable ways to celebrate and honor the special couple make it fun for the whole family.

Are there budding actors in the family or just folks who like to have fun; well try getting them to do a skit that shows the couple as they go through the years together. To pull this off the couples kids and parents would need to help. They could all get together and swaps remember when stories, then the family could vote on the best one use in a skit. The couple will be surprise to see their life acted out in front of them. What a fun way to get the guests involved in the party.

Another anniversary gift idea that may not rock to the rest of the family, but would be greatly enjoyed by the couple is a gift basket. In this gift basket would be a gift certificate to a special hotel, plane tickets to take then to a vacation spot, meal tickets, entertainment tickets, and a special video they can watch once they have settled in. This video would be a chance for all the special people in the couple’s life to tell them how much they love them and how happy they are for them. Tickets to a hotel, restaurant or somewhere that is special to the couple would give them the chance to spend time together, just the two of them.

Karaoke spells fun for any occasion and if you make certain that the songs are the couples favorites, it will make a great anniversary party for everyone. The theme would be love sing that the guest had to sing to the couple. The couple would then get to vote on the song they like the most. Another anniversary party theme for the night could be the songs that were popular when the couple first met and the year they got married.

If you can’t afford to send the couple away you can always bring paradise to them. While they are out you can decorate the house to look like a place they would like to go. Then you could live different baskets throughout the night. The kitchen would have pre made breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two, or certificates to their favorite restraint that delivers. The bathroom basket would have the bubble bath, bath beads, candles, and soft music CD. The living room basket would have movies and popcorn for movie night, if the couple likes to read it could also have copies of their favorite book. There could be a game basket that had nice games they could play together like chess, checkers, etc. The bed room basket would have the rose petals, candles, CD with the love songs, and any other items the host would like to provide. It doesn’t have to take a ton of money to show a couple that they are loved and appreciated, just a little imagination and good planning.

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

More than 3 million people call the small island nation of Bali home. The group of sister islands in Indonesia are well known for their beauty, indigenous wildlife (including many endangered species), incredible culture, and their relatively affordable vacation packages—but the most amazing part of Indonesia are the hidden gems of Bali—rental villas.

The perfect vacation is one in which all of your adventure dreams come true. You go where you want to go, do what you want to do, see what you want to see, experience what you want to experience, and do it all for a price you can afford. A vacation like that is sometimes hard to come by, but you can have the vacation of your dreams when you look into villa Bali rentals during the off season when prices hit rock bottom, but the vacation experiences are just as incredible as when the peak of the season hits.

During your awesome vacation to the island of Bali you will find that there is more to do on this small island than you first thought. When you visit villa rental websites to reserve your villa Bali rental you will be surprised by the incredible amenities offered, including: daily maid service, room service, butler services, en-suite bathrooms, in suite kitchens, private pools, 24/7 security, private beach access, satellite TV, DVD players, transportation services, spa services, private island tours, king sized beds, sun decks, balconies, private gardens, 5 star dining, access to world class shopping and entertainments, and the all important WiFi. Many Bali villas are world renown for their luxurious accommodations at affordable prices.

One of the most popular of the villa Bali rental amenities is access to private yacht rentals. That means that you can experience the beauty and magic of Bali from your private villa, or from the deck of a private luxury yacht anchored on the coast, surrounded by blue water, warm sun, and island breezes. Bali villas will provide you with mind blowing opulence on land, but chartering your own private yacht will boost your Bali vacation experience to a whole new level. You’ll never want to take a normal vacation again—not when Bali is a treasure with so many hidden gems.

On the sea, you can fish, lie in the sun, enjoy the ride, or explore other parts of the island. Your own private yacht is a magic carpet ride to other Bali beaches, other wonderful tourist attractions, and you can even wine and dine yourself or your partner under the stars, out to sea, without any interruptions, distractions, or prying eyes. When you charter a yacht you are guaranteeing yourself that you will have the most private and intimate of vacation spots outside of your own private villa Bali rental.

Private luxury yachts aren’t just for the upper crust billionaires! If you can afford a villa Bali rental, you can afford to charter a yacht for a day, for a meal time (candlelit dinners on private yachts can be super romantic), or you can charter them for the entirety of your vacation. Chartering yachts is much easier than you’d think because you don’t have to know how to drive a yacht, they come complete with captains, and in some cases entire crews to serve you and see to your every need.

Vacations in Bali with Bali villas are memorable and totally worth looking into, especially when you ask for the perfect duet of a villa Bali rental and a yacht.
